The Paranoid Beast have pursued their mission in pushing local Irish bands in the metal underground to every corner of the island and beyond. With the ambitions of a record label, the Cork based promoters have released a double compilation on their Bandcamp page at a Pay What You Want price. Entitled “The New Wave of Irish Heavy Metal”, the two volumes feature artwork recently done by Dagbula Design (of zhOra fame).

The first volume, “Birth of the Beast” features many well known bands from the south of the country, both new and old. It features a wide mix of styles from progressive bands such as Yurt and Grey Stag, to the heavier side of things with Senzar and Okus.

The second volume, as you might have guessed by it’s name, hosts many doom and sludge laden bands. “Evil Eye of Doom” accomodates the riff heavy and gargantuan such as Soothsayer, Ten Ton Slug, Slomatics and a conclusive dark ambient piece from Ruairi O’Baoighill.

“The New Wave of Irish Heavy Metal double compilation was compiled and arranged by The Paranoid Beast in order to support and grow the burgeoning metal scene of our homeland. We have an abundance of talent in Ireland at the moment and it is our aim, through various mediums, to raise the profile of metal in Ireland and overseas. The release is free or pay as you wish.
