Following a hiatus which lasted almost nine years, the ollam return with Illow the Sun, an instrumental track showcasing the bands rich understanding of complex musical ideas and cultural musicology – the track plays out over the top of a traditional Armenian 10/8 rhythm which sounds effortless in the hands of the ollam.
Joe Dart from the internationally renowned funk outfit Vulfpeck lends his prodigous chops to the track’s low end, nailing an unconventional bass groove that would prove incomprehensible to a lesser player.

“We wanted to make something that could be a refuge for these times – equal parts authentic and fairy-tale, equal parts lament and hope,” says the band of their single.
The group have also shared word of an upcoming album planned for a late-spring release.
