Following a whirlwind couple of years which has saw them sell out-shows around the world and appear on legendary music show Later with Jools Holland, The Mary Wallopers have announced the departure of guitarist Seán McKenna on their socials today ahead of what promises to be a busy year for the group.

A statement from the group reads:

Hi folks a bit of a Wallopers update here on this Tuesday morning. After almost ten years of hoorin and drinkin Seán has decided to leave the band, now don’t worry we still love each other and will continue to get pissed together etc. We’ll still be touring, just with a moustached shape hole in our lives :’( Here is the first band photo we ever took.
Best of luck Seán,
Lots of love

The announcement was accompanied by a statement from McKenna who has announced he’s leaving the band to pursue other interests as well as releasing music under his own steam. It’s unclear whether McKenna will appear on any future releases by the group.  The departure is the latest in a string of Irish musicians leaving groups to pursue other careers or go solo with Pillow Queens, The Scratch and Sprints amongst the groups losing members in the last year.
