Cork four-piece The Altered Hours have been gaining momentum after joining Fontaines D.C. on European tour and signing with independent Dundalk label Pizza Pizza Records. Their music relentlessly stylish, drawing comparisons to the art-punk experimentalism of Sonic Youth and The Velvet Underground.

On All Amnesia ,the band provide vocalist Elaine Howley a sparse Martin Hannettesque beat built around reverbed drums and a hypnotic bassline for her to deliver a cool and aloof but nonetheless magnetic performance. The guitar work on the track is also impressive – starting off with a paired back riff complimenting the song’s vocal melody before building into an angular wall of sound towards the back end of the track.

“The lyrics represent what it means to forget the past and to be guided only by the desire of the moment. It speaks to the idea that forgetting or suppressing history can lead to erasure of the future and how unwillingness to face our reality leaves us floating in a hedonistic present,” said Elaine Howley of the track.

“We’re really excited for this chapter of our band’s music, this song is inspired by our love for rock ‘n’ roll & rich melodies & the endless pathways that can take us on. We feel we’re always getting closer & closer to the core of what we love about music & this is another step in that exploration,” said band member Cathal MacGabhann.
