Commissioned as part of Galway’s 2020 stint as the European Capital of Culture, The Mighty Ocean is a half-hour long film exploring themes of climate change through a musical suite composed by Máirtín O’Connor alongside a crew of Irish traditional music legends such as Garry Ó Briain, Cathal Hayden, Seamie O’Dowd and more.

The programme was filmed in in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church – Galway’s iconic medieval building that was once visited by Christopher Columbus.

The Mighty Ocean is set to air on Sunday 25 April 2021 at 9:30pm.
