Television at The Academy, Friday 12th

One of the most innovative and exciting guitar bands to emerge from New York in the 1970s, Television continue to tour their wonderful post-punk sound. Expect incredibly interlocking guitar play from this one, and keep an ear out for the masterpiece that is Marquee Moon, complete with the extended guitar section that never fails to blow minds.

The lovely light indie of Waxahatchee makes its way to the Button Factory this Saturday, and the group have really expanded their sound on their latest album, ‘Ivy Tripp’.  With a broader, richer sound that still retains the folky, twee aspects of earlier work, Katie Crutchfield continues to grow as a songwriter, and the live performance will hopefully be just as impressive.

The eclectic, eccentric and occasionally controversial rollercoaster that is Amanda Palmer pops round to Dublin this weekend. With a sound that defies classification, but touches on punk, rock and pop, and with a huge stage presence, this ought to be an exciting gig.
