Tebi Rex have ushered in their final chapter with ‘Fin.’ the title track from their forthcoming final album which lands this summer. And if ‘Fin.’ is anything to go by then the veteran Irish hip hop duo are signing off in style. ‘Fin.’ is a glitchy, cinematic dance track which flows from pulsating beats to simple piano fills with ease as Tebi Rex intertwine studio thoughts and studio recorded vocals together.

“I Don’t know how that will sound” they exclaim at one point, but they shouldn’t have doubted themselves. It’s an interesting creative decision to weave behind the scenes moments into a track in such a manner, but it works perfectly throughout.

After a decade in the game it’s time to move on to other creative endeavours for Max Zanga and Matt O’Baoill and the process of letting go and moving on is clearly an emotional one for the duo. “We’ve always been terrified of endings. I suppose this album and this song is us trying to find beauty and joy in things coming to a close because it’s inevitable.”

The track is accompanied by a stylish, dance based video directed by Aiesha Wong. Music from the album featured in Fin. – The Harbinger of Deatha new play written by Dafe Pessu Orugbo staged at Smock Alley Theatre as part of Scene + Heard Festival.
