Murphy’s and Beamish are taking advertising to a brand new level with their blatantly named Stout Fest 2013.
It’s not a drinking competition, though they no doubt will encourage (sensible) drinking. Stout Fest 2013 will put the focus on Cork and it’s great pubs and there will be specially commissioned stout and samping experiences throughout the event. It runs on the June bank holiday weekend May 31st to June 2nd 2013. Also making a return this year is the ‘When It Rains It Pours’ app to get a free pint of Murphys in your local.
Stout Fest 2013 opens on Friday May 31 at 7 PM with a performance from the majestic Seasick Steve who will headline the Murphy’s 12 Bar Blues evening which will have Grant Hart (Husker Du) playing songs from his new album. Delorentos lead the line of Irish acts including Young Wonder, Windings and The Vincents who will all play as part of Murphy’s Rising on Saturday 1st June.
Sunday being a day of rest they have got traditional super group in LAPD. Liam O’Flynn, Andy Irvine, Paddy Glackin & Dónal Lunny are three-quarters Planxty and the original Bothy Band fiddler.
