Ahead of their appearance at Glastonbury this weekend Sprints have shared details of their forthcoming second album ‘All That Is Over’ and announced a string of European live dates including a stint supporting Fontaines D.C.

‘All That Is Over’ the follow-up to their Choice Music Prize nominated 2024 debut ‘Letter To Self’ arrives on September 26th via City Slang worldwide and Sub Pop in North America. The album features 11 tracks including lead single ‘Descartes’ – the band’s first new music since last year’s stand alone single ‘Feast’ – which was Inspired by a line in Rachel Cusk’s novel Outline“Vanity is the curse of our culture”.

“A lot of the negativity you see in the world is rooted in vanity and the ego that your beliefs or identity are more important than somebody else’s,”explains lead singer Karla Chubb. “’Descartes’ explores the idea that writing for me is not just a tool to make music but a tool to process the world.”

The album is the first to feature Zac Stephenson on guitar. “By the time we ended up working on new stuff, we’d played so many shows together that the natural chemistry me, Karla and Sam had built up over years, Zac had very quickly developed too,” Jack says. The tumultuous time and increased workload forged the new line-up together pushing Karla Chubb onto new heights creatively.

“There was just so much happening and so much to process,” she explains. “I was going through a big break up with my partner who I’d been with for eight years; Colm had left the band; we’d really progressed into being professional musicians, and I was at the start of a new relationship. But then you’d look outside and it’s like the world has never been uglier. I was writing every day because there was so much going on.”

Chubb channelled her personal woes and a litany of geopolitical events into the album tackling everything from genocide, the LA wildfires, and Trump’s executive order denying the rights of trans people.
