Spike Cello Fest 2024 is set to take place in venues around Dublin from Friday 9 to Sunday 11 February. As Dublin’s adventurous, intimate, alternative cello festival, this year Spike offers a programme of jazz, pop, contemporary, folk and blues, with a particular celebration of female performers of the cello world. Spike is about bringing audiences and world-class musicians from home and abroad together to enjoy, celebrate and explore the cello in different ways and across multiple genres.

At the Sugar Club, the Festival opens with a double bill of the Naomi Berrill Trio (presenting its recent jazz release “Inish”) and new duo FIRL (Gay-Yee Westerhoff and Eos Counsell from global sensation Bond) making its debut appearance. Saturday offers events across the city, including performances at the Ark, Unit 44 (Stoneybatter), the Hugh Lane, and Fumbally Café, before returning to the Hugh Lane the next day for its ‘Sundays at Noon’ series and a concert by dynamic quartet Cellophonics.
