Soak has shared Purgatory, the second glimpse of their upcoming 3rd album ‘If I Never Know You Like This Again’ – out May 20, 2022 on Rough Trade Records. Purgatory sees Bridie and band leaning further into the ’90s indie vibe of Last July, drawing on bands such as Broken Social Scene and Pavement and early Radiohead for inspiration. Purgatory also contains some very J Mascis-esque fretwork which is always a welcome thing.

“purgatory” is about the weight of time and the perpetual fear of reaching the  end of your life, unsatisfied with how you’d spent it. The song came out of a slump phase, I wasn’t really a fan of myself and honestly just felt rather lost. In ways that felt like it’s own purgatory. I was trying to figure out how to make myself feel better, become a ‘better version’ of myself.  So I guess whilst this song is about panic, it’s equally about the pursuit of change.”

Purgatory is accompanied by a video directed by Ellius Grace. Soak opens for Lucy Dacus in 3Olympia Theatre later this month before headline shows in Dolan’s and Whelan’s in May.
