Originally from Limerick, poet and performer Sinead O’Brien has developed an exciting, idiosyncratic  project in conjunction with bandmates Julian Hanson and Oscar Robertson – built around O’Brien’s witty verses full of everyday observations set to often cacophonous musical accompaniment.

On Kid Stuff , Sinead and co. have recruited Fontaines D.C. and Kate Tempest producer Dan Carey to add a hi-fi sheen to the grooving post-punk lying beneath O’Brien’s Cooper Clarkian musings.

The single release is accompanied by a Saskia Dixie directed video showcasing surreal choreography and a desolate rural setting giving the whole thing a decidedly eerie, David Lynch atmosphere.

Watch the video for Kid Stuff below:

Kid Stuff shows up all different tones on different days. There’s something alive in it which cannot be caught or told. It is direct but complex; it contains chapters. This feels like our purest and most succinct expression yet,” says O’Brien of the track.

Sinead O’Brien is also embarking on a European tour with a Dublin date at The Workman’s Club scheduled for 22 October. Tickets available here
