Every once in a while you come across a song that, makes you think: “Hell yeah, this is good!” and Time is a thief ‘s single ‘The collector”, should with a “Guaranteed Hell Yeah!!” sticker.

In a world of tender vocals, high-pitched guitars and frivolous lyrics it is a treat to indulge in a out-and-out rock song with thrashing guitars and lyrics seeping with angst; after all isn’t that what rock music was meant to be about? The band, hailing from Cork, have already made an impression among some of Ireland’s music bloggers, but this reviewer says that they have not generated as much interest as this song merits.

From the grungy intro to the aggressive ending it is the epitome of what rock music was in the early 2000s, but more Deftones and Papa Roach than Limp Bizkit. With this particularly apprehensive brand of rock it is unlikely that will take the masses by storm, however it is also equally improbable that this is the overall goal of Time is a thief. It is an effective and emotive single, with the kind of sentimental lyrics that make this kind of music more palatable.  It is highly suggested that those of you with a broad taste in music and a penchant for heavy guitar take a listen to this intriguing single.
