This Club - Add It UpBeginning life as Hoarsebox, who were really not my thing, maybe not others either which perhaps prompted them to become This Club  and return in mid-2011 with a new sound and a new name. With them they brought what was to become the late summer hit of the year, the insanely catchy I Won’t Worry. It became impossible to ignore, one of the most played songs on Irish radio and appearing on several high profile advertisements. No wonder it has now been nominated for the Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year; after one listen it became stuck in your head and never failed to bring a smile to listeners’ faces.

This Club are now gearing up for the release of their second single, Add It Up. While not as immediately catchy as I Won’t Worry, after a few listens it does become infectious. Radio friendly, with falsetto verses and clap along beat, there is just something about the song that makes me think some of its magic is lost on a studio version. This song could be the highlight of any band’s live set, and with the forthcoming festival season it definitely makes This Club a must see act; prepare to find yourself unable to resist the urge to get up and dance.

Get used to hearing Add It Up because you will probably be hearing a lot of it for the next few months all over your radio. Hopefully This Club can follow up on their two strong singles with an impressive début album.

Add It Up is released on March 9th

This Club play The Academy 2 on Friday March 2nd (TONIGHT!) as part of Phantom Live
