On a Calm Saturday Night, No Plans for dancing or other assorted things one may do on a saturday. I decided to use my spare time to see a band live whom i had not seen live yet but based on a relentless verbal assault from my mate who absolutely loves The Answer i decided it was best to see what all his fuss was about. I took him along for the trip which needless to say he was more than pleased about. He promised me an absolute rocker of a night.

Due to Traffic and a problem at the door, we ended up missing the 2 support bands, much to my disgust, The 2 bands supporting were General Fiasco and Black Spiders, two bands whom i had heard a lot about too and wanted to see live, i’ll now have to make a point of seeing them in action at another gig, as literally the minute we walked in the door The Answer took to the state to a deafening roar from the crowd.

There was a clear age divide in the crowd, The Older of the crowd seems to have Sifted towards the back of The Academy and the younger crowd had pushed themselves front and centre. But it wasnt a large divide with as many a slightly older generation rocking out as the younger generation. A Clear indication of the broad appeal of their music. The Answer set about their task of Electrifying the crowd, something that quite clearly comes natural to them as they powered through their rocking set list.

The Venue was absolutely packed, it most certainly must have been close to sold out if not fully sold out and the size of crowd and atmosphere was something lead vocal Cormac Neeson feeds on. They banged out a brand new song for the crowd called “Evil Man” and then rolled straight into their latest single “Comfort Zone

Cormac was full of banter and was full of stories and interaction with the crowd, telling one story how their drummers was setting up earlier on and while in the backstage area was visited by none other than Giovanni trappatoni who recognising the quality and immense ability of the drummer begged him to turn out for and captain the Irish national team. A Silly but funny story, a man who clearly revels in the limelight and wants to create a unique show for all in attendance.

Towards the end of the set they played a song called “Dead of the night” which they explain that when on tour they normally dedicate to all the Irish in the crowd, something which had lost its effect in a crowd full of Irish.

In short, The Answer were Awesome, In Fact you could probably just call them The Awesome. They absolutely rocked out, The crowd loved it, the sound in the venue was all but perfect. It was a perfect atmosphere and everyone there including the 4 lads on stage were absolutely lapping up the evening.

Clearly a band going from strength to strength and i personally will be keeping a close eye on their progress over 2010.
