While there is nothing wrong with Identity Parade’s ‘Space Between’ EP the overall impression is one of a band stuck a few steps away from really hitting their stride. On one hand their songs are short, snappy and very to the point, a tried and tested formula for success – just look at Two Door Cinema Club. What Identity Parade are sadly lacking are the instantly catchy melodies that make short and to the point songs, instant successes.

Musically they’re very strong. Whilst not throwing the rule book out the window they do cover a wide range of instruments. From the contrast on ‘The Space Between’ between the growling bass & the light xylophone to the sultry synth on ‘The Keeper’ there’s certainly potential to grow.

Final song ‘Six Shades of Blue’ is by far the standout as they’re not trying to cram the entire song into less than three minutes it plays out with a natural momentum that makes the chorus all the more rewarding when the song does finally peak.

With the instrumentation firmly in place they’ve already taken over the likes of The Coronas in the scope of their sound, if they were to team up with a producer to build the vocals of Kele sound-alike Kevin Homan the results could be very exciting.
