Hailing from Ballycastle, Co. Antrim; Event Horses are tipped as one of the next big acts to emerge out of the growing hard-core / alt-rock scene in the north. Despite only forming in mid-2010, the three piece have already released two EP’s and played an impressive list of live shows around the country. Anyone who’s heard their debut E.P. Faces will know the band for their ferocious sound, youthful energy and impressive adeptness at song writing. We’re glad to report that their second effort, Dance With The Devil loses none of those characteristics and only adds to the band’s steadily growing playlist.

The EP’s title track, ‘Dance With the Devil’ makes it very clear, very quickly that no prisoners will be taken on this record. Gritty, throat tearing vocals fused with a dense wall of guitars and drums. Although their majority of their style is based on hard-core influences, Event Horses manage to nicely merge a darker, more complex style into the mix which gives the band more appealing qualities than a lot of their contemporaries.

‘Desperate Times’ is a continuation of that heavy style and closer to average hard-core than anything else on this EP. Still a good, heavy thumper of a tune that won’t leave you bored. Final track ‘From The Start’ begins with a sinister, mechanical build and ascends through a wall of seemingly disconnected guitars that serve more as an apocalyptic backdrop to the chaos of Lee’s vocals and the slow, bruising drums that pound aggressively throughout.
