Emili Sandé at The Olympia Theatre on August 15th 2012
Heavy rain and hurricane warnings are hardly a hindrance tonight as music lovers make their way from all directions to the Olympia theatre, where Emeli Sande made her Dublin debut. Rising to recognition as a featured artist on the Chipmunk single Diamond Rings, Sande has gone on to pen tracks for several artists, including Susan Boyle and Leona Lewis, and more recently secure her spot in the charts with her number one debut album Our Version of Events.

The venue is packed to the rafters, with the show having sold out well in advance. Sande makes good use of the stage, taking every opportunity to interact with the fans. Opening with tracks such as My Kind of Love, Read all About It, Daddy, River, and Heaven, the venue is set alight with energy. Newly introduced track Wonder goes down a treat, giving a taste of what can be expected from her upcoming releases. Her signature single Next to Me is saved for last.

All in all, a great live show. The visuals, the band, and the sheer excitement, passion, and undeniable talent of the frontwoman herself, marry together perfectly for a great night’s entertainment. With her stellar vocals, and warm stage presence, Sande definitely lives up to her reputation.

She is set to return to The Olympia in October, in aid of Childline. With a talent this big, for a cause so worthy, you’d be mad to miss it!
