Elavator are a three piece group from Dublin, who have been together for around 7 years, with the ‘Who Do You Think Your Fooling’ EP being their latest release.

The first track ‘Looking Out For Number One’ provides a strong start, with front-man Greg Clifford’s lyrics matching its brit-pop style. This is not to say the track sounds dated. It’s more of a throwback to the music of that time and is very listenable.

Second track, ‘It’s time girl’ is a lot more raw and dirty, with a real blues edge to it. It reminded me of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, is instantly catchy and is probably the most appealing track on the EP.

The final track takes the same name as the title and is more laid back than the others. It’s the kind of music you’d be happy listening to on a relaxing, sunny day. The hooks and lyrics are like-able, but not groundbreaking.

This EP shows in some parts why Elavator could be a top band, as they invoke comparisons with some of Supergrass and BRMC’s work. However, the biggest problem they’ll have is standing out among the many other small bands playing this brand of music. I wouldn’t rush out to see them live, but I’d have absolutely no problem listening to them either.
