The first time I heard of Dead Red Light was when they released their Single earlier in the year, May I think. At the time I was very interested in more recordings that they would release in the foreseeable future. This is “Kids Don’t Like Indie” and its got its highs and its lows.
“Crash” boasts some great guitar tones as the percussion keeps everything nice and tight. One thing I that does drive me mad, predictable guitar solos. They are the devil. Apart from that, this song rocks as hard as Everlong. Yes, Everlong! The vocals can be very nasally and piercing but it works well.
“Kids don’t like indie”, not that predictable guitar progression! Nice phrasing, yet we’ve heard it all before, sorry guys. “August” starts nicely with an upbeat bass line, into a nicely constructed verse. Music paints many colours as it moves into an upbeat chorus.
“We Waste Ourselves”, constructed reasonably well. The vocals once again pierce the ear drum but this time it’s not overruled by great music.
Overall, Dead Red Light have some great sounds but its a sound we are all too familiar with. Dead Red Light boasts musicians capable of writing more original music. Unfortunately, predictable chord progressions let this baby down. But of course, we all have our preferred hearing. Keep it rocking!
