Rachel Masterson, host of ‘A Cuppa With’ on 8radio.com, has launched the Mental Health in Music podcast. The podcast is a six-part series addressing the mental health struggles musicians have spoken about in interviews with Rachel on her 8Radio show.

Throughout 2020, the frequency of the mental health discussions increased as musicians spoke of their feelings of anxiety, hopelessness and isolation directing Rachel to do something to help. In the wake of the continued uncertainty surrounding the Covid19 pandemic, with the complete detriment to the live music industry, there are massive ramifications to the mental health of musicians who have lost their livelihood.

The podcast aims to address both the uncertainty around the pandemic and how musicians can boost their long-term well-being.

Each episode is one hour long, featuring musicians voicing their experiences and a mental health professional covering their topic of expertise. The themes covered in the podcast are dealing with uncertainty, beating imposter syndrome, finding your identity and being true to yourself, knowing your values, knowing your worth and learning how to create boundaries and how to build your wellbeing.

The episodes will premiere on 8radio.com at 9pm on the final Thursday of the month and land on podcast platforms the final Saturday of the month.

In Episode one, we hear about how musicians and music venue owners are struggling. We hear from Jamie Mulrooney from Doppler, Micah Music Robin James Hurt, Claire Nolan from Lypton Village, Siobhan Shiels of Great White Lies, Dave Judge of Abner Browns Barbershop and The Underground Venue and Dave Reid of Minding Creative Minds.

Along with the podcast Rachel is undertaking an Ironman race to raise money for A Lust for Life and Minding Creative Minds. If you would like to support the cause you can do so here.
