// Who now?
We’re Megacone, a 5-piece progressive instrumental band from Dublin, Wicklow and Mullingar. We all met in music college in Ballyfermot and formed in November 2013.

// When we last featured Megacone on GoldenPlec, it was to review your EP ‘Fondle Fantasy’. Have you any plans afoot for recording more material?
At the moment we’re just writing more songs with a view to recording an album next year. We plan on doing a single over the summer months too.
// Megacone LOVE playing live it seems. Any stand out moments so far?
Our EP launch is definitely up there. Was just such an amazing night, so many people came down to see us. People were having so much fun just dancing and singing our melodies along with us. It was amazing knowing that we had that much support around us. We also had Vernon Jane and Andy Earley opening for us on the night and they are both unbelievable acts.
// Who are your favourite Irish artists at the moment?
There are so so so so many bands we love in the scene at the moment. New Secret Weapon, Phazam Haze, Vernon Jane, Travis Oaks, Overhead the Albatross, Túcan, Punch Face Champions, Snowblind, Leo Drezeden, Mongoose, Wob!, Count Tornado. Could go on all day, there is some serious talent out there and we have been lucky enough to play shows and hang out with some of them.
// The last text message you sent is your next album title. What is it?
‘Oh I see, I see Icey. Das cew, don’t know yet.’
// Send us a photo and explain…
This is a photo from our recent gig in Mullingar. Ross and Podge are from Mullingar and it was our first time playing there so we got a great crowd. The photo really shows how much fun we were having.
// Hows the rest of the year looking for the band?
We have Knockanstockan coming up in July and that’s a huge buzz for us. We have all worked at it over the past few years on the production crew so now it’s amazing to be a part of the musical side of things too. We are just focused on gigging around as much as possible right now just to get our name out there.
// You can only hear one song for the rest of your life – what is it?

// The one song that you always bust out at a house party?
King Kunta – Kendrick Lamar
