South London duo PUNCHBAG been added to the line-up for Borderline festival later this month. The siblings, Clara and Anders Bach have just been signed to Mute and shared their debut single ‘Fuck It’.

‘Fuck It’ introduces the electro duo with a spray of synths, overdriven guitars and piercing beats. “We might as well just say go fuck it!” Clara exclaims. “’Cos we’re all gonna die, die, die!”

This carpe diem refrain is central to their work “it’s not nihilistic,” Clara insists. “It’s more like, we only have so much time, so do the thing you want to do. Kiss the person you want to kiss, say that thing you want to say.”

Their early live performances caught the attention of records companies with Mute eventually signing the duo less than a year after they played their first show. “We take it seriously,” says Clara. “We’ve thought about it a lot, and it was important that from the first time we performed it was fully formed. We’re Virgos. We’re perfectionists.”

The duo will appear at Borderline Festival in The Workman’s Club on Feb 21st with an appearance at The Great Escape pencilled in for later in the year. Listen to all the acts playing Borderline on the playlist below. Tickets on sale here
