Dublin rock outfit Skanger are delighted to premiere their upcoming new single ‘Dim The Light’, the first track from their upcoming debut album Love and Violence, which is scheduled for release later this year. ‘Dim The Lights’ will be officially released on next month, 28th April.

Skanger first made waves as an outfit when they released three critically acclaimed singles; ‘Condolences’, ‘A Chance To Count The Cost’ and ‘Mistakes in the midst of the pandemic. Then duo, Skanger’s return sees them launch an entirely new line-up, with frontman Mark Healy joined by Terry Hackett on drums and prodigious producer Ingmar Kiang on bass.

‘Dim The Lights’ was produced by Skanger’s Ingmar Kiang, whose previous recording credits include Bob Marley’s worldwide hit Iron Lion Zion, and tracks by U2, Power of Dreams, Damien Dempsey, and many others.

‘Dim The Lights’ is a song about letting yourself live a positive life,” Healy explains of the track’s origins, “getting out of your own way, to live as good a life as your situation allows, will lead to better days.”

‘Dim The Lights’ opens with a roaring simple, homely drum beat with an echoey guitar line before Healy’s subdued vocals enter the fray. The track rises to a laid-back peak in the final third, as all the drum line becomes more expansive and expressive, with Healy expounding on the corrosive power of drinker’s remorse.

With more material on the horizon, as well as the potential for some live shows on the horizon, Skanger are well and truly back and raring to go.
