Peace at Whelan’s, Friday 20th
Upbeat and bubbly indie rockers Peace visit Whelan’s this Friday in support of their new album ‘Happy People.’ This chirpy record is as uplifting as its name might suggest, and with an excellent debut in the form of ‘In Love’ to also pluck tunes from, a fun evening packed with exciting and energetic tracks should be in order here. The band have established a reputation as a fine live act, and now with two assured albums to their name, the group is beginning to emerge as one of the best indie bands around.
Gavin James at the Olympia Theatre, Friday 20th
One of the country’s finest singer/songwriters is now able to command a headline show at the Olympia theatre, and we fully expect Gavin James to continue doing what he does best, which is performing his powerful ballads with ease and style. There’s also a support slot for Wyvern Lingo, so pop down early to this one for some great Irish acts.
Worth Checking Out:
Idlewild at the Academy, Saturday 21st
Achieving their greatest level of success during the early 00’s, Idlewild have had an eclectic career, veering from heavy punk based sounds to more folk-y, melodic offerings. While the band’s recorded output has been hit and miss on occasion, the group’s quality live performances have always remained a constant.
All Tvvins at Whelan’s, Wednesday 25th
The Irish super-group All Tvvins, featuring Larry Kaye from Adebisi Shank and Conor Adams from Cast Of Cheers, return to Whelan’s for a headline show, bringing with them more of the wacky electro-pop/alt-rock fusion that makes them such an appealing group.
