The incomparable Paddy Hanna follows up February’s delightful comeback single ‘New York Sidewalk’ with another jaunt around his idiosyncratic mind in the form of ‘Yoko Ono’ which sees Hanna mixing his trademark ephemeral ’60s throwback sound with elements reminiscent of early Beck in a joyously upbeat yet reassuringly offbeat way.

“The song started as an improvised rap about Mike love from The Beach Boys, and over time it mutated into a cheerful bop about an identity crisis. There isn’t a day where I don’t feel like an imposter, so why not write a catchy tune about it,” says Paddy.

‘Yoko Ono’ is accompanied by confirmation that Hanna’s fourth album ‘Imagine I’m Hoping’, is completed and set for release this autumn.

Paddy Hanna plays The Workman’s Cellar on Friday, 15th April presented by Foggy Notions. Buy tickets here.
