After successes with Handel’s Agrippina and Britten’s Owen Wingrave, Opera Collective Ireland looks to new audiences this year with a child-friendly production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
With music composed by Will Todd and a libretto by Maggie Gottlieb, this comical take on the familiar story opened to rave reviews at its premiere in 2013. Described as a blues-inspired family opera, this touring production (directed by Caroline Chaney) features the Irish Chamber Orchestra conducted by Stephen Barlow, with a cast of up-and-coming Irish artists including Jessica Hackett, Anna Brady, Rory Musgrave, Malachy Frame, Kelli-Ann Masterson and Fionn Ó hAlmhain.
Funded by the Arts Council and RTÉ Supporting the Arts, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland tours from 1 – 9 April, with performances in Kilkenny, Navan, Limerick, and Dún Laoghaire. For more information and booking details, see this link.
