Northern Irish newcomer Jack Devlin is back with his third single ‘Skin In The Game’. The singer/songwriter’s debut single ‘Radio’ singled him out as fresh voice in the NI scene with his Sam Fender-esque approach to pop, while ‘Default Days’ further showcased his indie-pop credentials.
“Skin in the Game” finds Devlin delving into personal life and exploring how family issues can weight heavy on the soul and permeate all aspects of your life. The track was partly inspired by a moment in Lewis Capaldi’s Netflix documentary “How I’m Feeling Now” which prompted Jack Devlin to explore what he was going through.
“This is about my life and growing up with deep family problems, and my mum trying her best to hold everything together,” Jack explains. “It’s basically me telling her that I need her and that I’m also here for her at the same time. For the average listener, I think it’s a song of hope—a helping hand when times are hard. It could also be about losing someone close.”
