The Clap to release debut single

The lovely lads from The Clap who came out at 7.30 in the morning to support Coast to Coast: Tea and Toast are gearing up to hopefully go viral with the release their debut single One Fell Out Of The Cuckoo’s Nest on April 27th.

The lads have told us the song should be available as a FREE download from that date onwards and their current single Whiskey Rose is available until then at their the-clap.bandcamp.com.

John Blek and the Rats in The Grand Social

Cork based five piece folk outfit John Blek & The Rats will be in The Grand Social on May 19th 2012. They will be joined on the night by Gavin Redmond’s indie-pop act Twin Terrace.

Doors are at 9pm and tickets are available from The Grand Social for €7.

Nathan Fake to play The Pavilion, Cork

Shoe-gaze is the order of the day down in Cork with the announcement that Nathan Fake (Live – Border Community, UK) will be playing The Pavilion in Cork on Friday 4th May 2012.

Supported on the night by local producer Puca, doors will open at 11pm. Tickets are €10 before 12 and €12 after.

Cry Monster Cry to release The Fallen EP

Dublin two piece Cry monster Cry have set the date for the release of their EP ‘The Fallen’. The EP will be released on May 25th 2012.

They will be gathering a full band and will be putting on a launch show upstairs in Whelans on the same night of May 25th. Doors are at 8pm.

Allie Bradley to release new EP

The wonderful Allie Bradley is back with a follow up to her initial EP’s ‘Sincerity’ and ‘Flashbacks and Reruns’ which garners a lot of praise in the UK from BBC radio and she ended up having a busy year on festival circuits and completing a UK and Ireland tour.

now it’s onward and upwards with the release of the new EP ‘TWO’. It will be released on June 11th 2012 and will be preceeded by the lead single Simplest of Freedoms.

Lucas Santtana leads assorted Brazilian music night

Saturday 28th April will see a brazilian samba style mix with electro and acoustic sounds straight from Rio De Janeiro in the form of Lucas Santtana. Trio Corrente will be supporting with DJ Lex Woo will follow their show with a Disco Brazil crew, as well as DJ iZem and Mundo Capoeira and an acoustic Brazilian set until 3am.

It’s on in The Workmans Club on Saturday 28th April from 8pm onwards and Tickets are €18 via entertainment.ie.

The Dirty 9s to support HAL at The Button Factory

Dublin three piece HAL have asked The Dirty 9s to support them this Friday April 20th in The Button Factory. HAL are launching their new album ‘The Time, The Hour’ and we have tickets for the show to give away so you can catch both these great bands.

Punch Brothers coming to Whelans

Steve McEvoy releases solo EP

Steve McEvoy of DataDrip is going it solo and has recorded and released an EP. It’s called the ‘Imprint EP’ and is available now as a FREE download from his Bandcamp.

His first solo gig is in the Twisted Pepper on Thursday 3rd of May, in the Box as part of Beatyard, so do go along and support him if you like the EP. Beatyard is always a lot of fun.

Sweet Jane to play Record Store Day in Tower Records

There should be a good few more announcement like this for the next few days, Record Store Day should see a slew of acts playing around Ireland and on Saturday 21st April will have Sweet Jane in store in Tower Records at 3pm.

Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart coming to Ireland for two dates

Husband and wife duo Stacey Earle & Mark Stuart have announced a UK and Ireland tour as part of supporting their new album ‘Dedication’. The tour has already kicked off in the UK as they work their way through the slew of shows they announced and will be in Ireland end of April / start of May for two shows.

First is Mick Murphy’s bar in Ballymore Eustace on Monday 30th April followed swiftly by a trip up to the big smoke to play Whelan’s on Tuesday 1st May. Tickets are €15 and doors are at 8pm.
