It’s time to round up some gig news that you need to hear about in one handy package. Every now and then we’ll take a load of gig announcements and pack them into one handy digestible post. Here’s some stuff we’ve not posted yet this week.
Hozier to make Kilkenny debug
Hozier has been sitting in the charts week after week after week since the release of his Take Me TO The Church track went viral both with the video and radio play and sales too.
The Wicklow born lad will be playing his first show in Kilkenny on Saturday 28th December in the Set Theatre.
Headstrong host night of live music and celebrity auction
Headstrong, the National Centre for Youth mental health, will but hosting a celebrity auction with live music on the night too.
The event called ‘Let’s Bid on Life’ will be in the Sugar Club on Monday 25th November 2013. Music is set to come from The Shoos and Dem Fools. Admission is just €10 and is available from Entertainment.ie from Friday 15th November.
On the night well known Irish personalities will be putting themselves up for auction to raise funds and awareness for headstrong.
Personalities up for auction include:
Ciaran Sheehan – Cork footballer who also lined out for Ireland in this year’s International Rules Series and has just signed a contract with Melbourne’s Carlton Blues.
Dani Robinson – Fade Street Actress
Marc O Neill & Phil Penny – Tallafornia
Dan Wolfe – Extreme Mountain Biker

Winning bidders will get themselves an exclusive ‘date’ with their prize in the Sugar Club VIP room and a complimentary cocktail plus access to the VIP room for the entire night!
It’s a night not to be missed – celebrities, live music, drinks promos and some amazing raffle prizes. All proceeds go to headstrong, a truly deserving charity who are doing great work in promoting positive mental health in Ireland today.
The Stoles to play The Cuckoo’s Nest
Dublin alt-rockers The Stoles will be playing a headline show out in Tallagh tomorrow night. The Stoles will be joined by Sal Vitro and Future Phantoms as support.
Admission is only €5 and is payable only on the door.

Sean Millar announces final show of the year
Sean Miller released his latest album C48 recently and it has been met with a wave of largely positive reviews across the board.
He has announced he will be playing his last gig until April 2014 when he plays Project Arts Centre on Saturday 30th November. He’s lined up Dylan Tighe as support and admission is €15 or €12 if you book early on projectartscentre.ie

REIJSEGER – FRAANJE – SYLLA play Fumbally Cafe
Note Productions in association with Happenings are bringing a special trio of Reijseger (cello), Fraanje (piano) and Sylla (vocals, M’bira, Xalam, Kongoma) to play Fumbally Cafe on Saturday 23rd November.
Tickets for the show are €25 but that also includes your dinner from the Fumbally Cafe on the corner of Clabrasil Street. Support will come from Kevin Murphy (Seti The First) on cello and Matthew Nolan on electric guitar.
Foy Vance winner Northern Ireland Music Prize album of the year
Just two nights ago on November 12th Foy Vance emerged from the Northern Ireland Music Prize with the album of the year title for his current release ‘Joy Of Nothing’.
Vance expressed – “We are all very proud to have been nominated, let alone to have received the award for best album. I’m gutted I couldn’t be there on the night but the award has been collected by the people who made it possible – so justice has been served”.
The cracking album is out now and the award is a fantastic kick start to a tour starting December 6th – 9th.

Room Six play Gary Lucas after party
Room Six will be taking over the stage after the Gary Lucas gig in the Grand Social on November 23rd.
Admission is FREE so if you’re hanging around after the gig, there’s a FREE show to be enjoyed.
WOB to play The Mercantile
WOB WOB WOB. The fun WOB will bring their electronica built on bass and drum beats back to The Mercantile next month.
They have confirmed a date in The Merc on December 5th 2013 with Room Six playing support. Admission is absolutely FREE so if you’re looking for some free entertainment, here’s a handy one you might enjoy.
Meltybrains? to play Limerick end of the month
Meltybrains? are bringing their melty show to Limerick for a date in Dolan’s Upstairs on November 30th.
Joining Meltybrains? on the night will be Race The Flux, Silent Noise Parade and Tigwara completely the three quality Irish acts. Admission on the night is just €5.
Púca set for Twisted Pepper date
Berlin based sligo native Aodhgán O’Flaherty A.K.A. Púca will be bringing his experimental techno music to the Twisted Pepper.
The show is on November 22nd 2013. Tickets for the show are €8 or €5 for members and are available from Twisted Pepper’s website or sold on the door.
Púca recently released his debut ‘Maieutic EP’, on the Argentine Abstract Records.
The Would Be’s and The Henry Girls to release new singles
Two new Irish singles will be unleashed on the world from Friday 29th November as The Would Be’s gear up to release Could Be The Weather and The Henry Girls will be releasing Maybe.
For The Would Be’s this is the fourth single to be lifted from their comeback album ‘Beautiful Mess’, meanwhile Maybe is the first single to be taken from the forthcoming album ‘Louder Than Words’ from the Henry Girls.
Tour dates are on the horizon for the girls too with shows as a new year marks a new set of shows including Cork, Kilkenny, Roscommon, Drogheda, Letterkenny, Blanchardstown, Clonakilty, Blanchardstown and Coleraine all getting shows in January and February.

Alternative Sunday Social Club have Rocky DeValera & The Rhythm Kings this weekend
A packed house last Sunday, so the Stags Head are looking forward to another packed out venue this week, November 17th, as it’s the turn of Rocky DeValera & The Rhythm Kings who will be joined by DJ Karl Tsigdinos. (see attached).
Doors 4.00pm and admission is €8.00.
The Rattling Kind to return to The Grand Social
Following up on the success of the release of their ‘Rise UP’ EP, The Rattling Kind will be returning to The Grand Social for another headline show there on December 7th.
Tickets for the show are €8 and are on sale from Ticketmaster.ie now. The lads were on the Saturday Night Show last week, pleasing a rousing track to the national audience.
More Than Conquerors to play Dublin and Galway end of month
The end of November will see two shows from More Than Conquerors as they pop over to Dublin on November 28th for a show with Race The Flux as part of Club Zebra in Whelan’s. If you email zebra@whelanslive.com for guestlist you can get yourself in free.
They then will follow it up with a show in the Roisin Dubh upstairs on November 29th with admission just €5. Support on the night comes from Animal Beats and Onwards! Upwards! (formally known as Skyboy).
MK1 to play age ages show at Half Moon Theatre, Cork
Dubstep duo Charlie Rundle and Simeon Dixon have been relentless touring since they reached the final 12 of The X Factor in 2012. It’s a year on and they make a visit to Cork for a headline date in the Half Moon Theatre.
The show is an all ages show and doors are at 6.30pm. All the UK dates for the London duo are completely sold out.
ESCORT to play The Twisted Pepper
Bodytonic have snapped up Brooklyn’s popular disco orchestra ESCORT for a headline show in Dublin at the start of next month.
ESCORT will play The Twisted Pepper on December 8th with support from Sarah Byrne. Admission is €15 or €13 for members. Tickets are available from the Bodytonic store or Ticketmaster.ie.
