Following the release of their earth-shaking debut album last year, New Secret Weapon will kick off 2015 with a return to the studio, this time in the company of renowned producer and recording engineer Steve Albini.

Having previously worked with the likes of Nirvana, Pixies, PJ Harvey and Fugazi – Albini should make a powerful sparring partner for the Irish rockers. “We are analog babies, so we are delighted to be working with a long time hero of ours,” explained guitarist David Griffin, confirming the band’s excitement to be given the chance to work with a music legend.

Albini selected NSW to be a part of the Mixing With Masters sessions. The band will join him in Studio La Fabrique in the South of France for a week in February. Given NSW’s prodigious work ethic, and Albini’s reputation for capturing an acts’s live intensity, we expect big things to come out of the recording session.

New Secret Weapon formed in the aftermath of KnockanStockan Independent Music Festival 2007. Drawing influences from artists such as Frank Zappa, King Crimson, Queens of The Stone Age and Jeff Buckley, the band have gathered a loyal fan base at home and in the UK through countless fiery live performances.

With a European tour and new record to be announced later in the year, the band will be making selected appearances throughout America in 2015.
