The 92-member strong National Youth Orchestra of Ireland (NYOI) travels to Waterford, Cork and Dublin in July for three concerts this summer. The venues will be. College Street Chapel, Waterford on July 20th, City Hall, Cork on July 21st and the National Concert Hall, Dublin on July 22nd.

Under the baton of Alan Buribayev, the award-winning Principle Conductor of the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the orchestra will perform Shostakovich Symphony No. 10 as well as Rimsky Korsakov’s Prelude and Battle at Kerchentz from The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh . Sisters Fiona Kelly, flautist and Jean Kelly, harpist will duo in Mozart’s Concerto for Flute and Harp, the only piece of music that he composed that contains the harp.

The orchestra is now in its 42nd year, with musicians aged 12-18 from more than 20 counties in Ireland who play the full range of symphonic instruments.
