Dublin-based ‘80s-influenced jangly noise pop quartet Montauk Hotel have today released a brand new music video for their shimmering recent single White Billboards.

The song expands upon the band’s established formula of strong melodies, glistening guitars and punchy beats, and is a reflection on the power of advertising in our society and how models and standards influence our choices, happiness and feelings of inadequacy.

The retro music video – directed, produced and edited by Claudia Verdecchia – reflects these themes, making use of images and footage from the early post-war era up to the ‘70s and speaks to a present day where people have become indifferent to corporate gentrification; asking whether a society with empty billboards will allow us to be happy or leave us lost and unable to define ourselves.

Elsewhere, Montauk have been making noise with sell-out shows all over Ireland, as well as supporting the likes of Goat Girl, PINS and Beauty Sleep and appearances at festivals like Other Voices, Groove Festival, Vantastival and Sunflower Festival. With appearances at Electric Picnic, Sea Sessions and Féile, as well as a supporting slot on tour with The Blizzards confirmed; 2019 could prove to be their biggest year yet.
