Having returned last month with striking single Working for the Knife and instantly selling out the North American leg of her world tour, Mitski has announced that her new album ‘Laurel Hell’, will arrive on February 4th on Dead Oceans. News of the follow-up to 2018’s wildly successful ‘Be The Cowboy’ is accompanied by new single The Only Heartbreaker.

“I wrote what I needed to hear. As I’ve always done.” says Mitski of ‘Laurel Hell’, which with the help of long-time collaborator Patrick Hyland “slowly took on new forms and meanings, like seed to flower.” Though many of the songs had been written around 2018, through the prism of the pandemic some of them evolved “to be more uptempo and dance-y. I needed to create something that was also a pep talk.” Mitski explains.

Mitski plays a sold out show in Dublin’s Vicar Street next April. With the vast majority of her European tour sold out you may need to travel to Oslo, Stockholm or Zurich to catch Mitski live. Though we here Lausanne is lovely in May. Check out new single The Only Heartbreaker below.
