The Meteor Awards 2010 saw Westlife pick up their 10th straight Best Irish Pop Act award, its becoming a bit of a farce category at the moment, and whilst there may not be many other pop acts bar the script (The Delorento’s and Blizzards got nominated despite not really being pop acts) i cant see what Westlife are doing year on year to earn the Award, i honestly think this year a nod to The Script would have been a fair shout.
Ray Foley made it 3 in a row in the Best National DJ which to be fair was largely expected with paddy power making him 1/8 on and his nearest rival was 7/1 which is a massive swing.
Brian Kennedy was given a lifetime achievement award and Lord Henry Mountcharles was given a Music Industry Award for his contribution to bringing the best global acts to Slane.
The Corona’s got a nod for Best Irish Album and Wallis bird got Best Irish Female, with Christy Moore getting an odd but probably about time Best Irish Male.
