So we know the finalists, and each year with minimal exceptions, the entire shortlist has played the live event. This year as with every year of the Choice Music Prize, most of the acts have signed up for the initial announcement, there are always one or two that later get confirmed.
This year, eight of the ten have now confirmed their status of playing, the list of those confirmed is below. The two currently not confirmed to play Vicar Street on Thursday 7th March, are Two Door Cinema Club and Damien Dempsey. Two Door Cinema Club will be on tour in Germany at the time, so are unable to, and we reckon Damien’s omission is just down to his participation not being confirmed just yet, we imagine he will.
The Meteor Choice Music Prize will be broadcast live on the night on Today FM in a special four-hour extended programme during the Paul McLoone show. Tickets for the Meteor Choice Music Prize live event are on sale from Ticketmaster.ie at a cost of €22.50 including booking fee. If you want to join in our vote to see if the public can correctly guess the winner, head over to our Meteor Choice Music Prize 2012 poll.
The nominee’s for the Irish song of the year should be made public on Wednesday 30th January.
