Chicago-based rapper McKinley Dixon will commence his European tour in support of his forthcoming album ‘Magic, Alive!’, out June 6th via City Slang with a headline show at The Workman’s Cellar this October.
Dixon has previewed his fifth album with the dark jazz grooves of “Sugar Water” (feat. Quelle Chris & Anjimile), a track which he believes is a succinct encapsulation of the story at the heart of Magic, Alive!.
“‘Sugar Water’ is a discussion on how to make fleeting moments last forever, and how to carry those not here with you through time and space. It raises the question ‘what’s the price to pay for an eternal life lived through others memories?’”
‘Magic, Alive!’ was created with the help of English producer Sam Yamaha and frequent collaborator Koff and features guest appearances from Blu & Shamir, Ghais Guevara & Alfred., Teller Bank$ and Pink Siifu, alongside trombonist Reggie Pace, harpist Eli Owens and numerous friends. Pre-Oder here
