Ahead of the release of her second album ‘Waiting Room’ on Friday, 28th February, 2025 via VETA Records, Maria Kelly has shared new single ‘His Parents’ House’ which chronicles the all-too-common situation of staying with your future in-laws while you save for a house that keeps getting more expensive.
“Think of the money we’ll save at his parents’ house,” sings Kelly wryly over driving drums of the boygenius-esque slice of alt-Americana which longs for a better future while lamenting the loss of his & her independence.
‘Waiting Room’ also features the singles ‘When I’m Angry’, ‘Something Better’, ‘Slump’ and ‘Drive’, which was featured in the trailer for the film Ezra, starring Robert De Niro and Whoopi Goldberg.
To celebration of her forthcoming album, Maria is playing the Dublin Unitarian Church on Friday, 11 April (tickets available here for €23 + fees) and, appropriately, at London’s Waiting Room on Friday, 25 April.
