Irish musicians are being urged to go out and organise a free music event on a nearby stage for International Music Day as part of Love:Live Music.
They expect over 20,000 people to participate this year are it enters its third year. Last year over 160 musical events were held across 24 counties, ranging from jazz, rock, choirs, RTE Concert Orchestra, solo recitals, singing flash mobs, trad music sessions and even busking.
This year on Thursday 21st June they are calling on professional and amateur musicians, music organisations and leading figures to organise an event and put on a FREE music show that day. It hopes to create a strong and positive message about the wealth of great Irish music as 120 countries around the world do exactly the same thing.
Personally we think it would be great if everyone out busking called their gig “Occupy STREETNAME”. It’ll never catch on.
