London’s most hotly tipped new band are coming to to The Workman’s Club next week.

Selhurst quartet Black Midi have been winning rave reviews for their unique sonic approach. The band’s reputation has been built entirely on word of mouth and, as yet, they have no songs on Spotify.

They’ve won praise from fellow Londoners Shame, who described them to be “disturbingly brilliant”, while their rise has been so sudden and unexpected that the newly formed band found themselves doing sessions with songs so fresh that they hadn’t even had time to name them yet.

The band’s debut single bmbmbm’s quizzical lyrics and intense fretwork combine elements of post-punk and post rock pushing each genre in new ways. Black Midi have built up a reputation for leaving venues in a sweaty mess with their intense performances, with the incredible drumming of Morgan Simpson often singled out as a highlight.
