American sad girl pop indie rocker Liza Anne has a long-standing affinity with Ireland. She cast a romantic eye over our nation on her debut album with the track Ireland and her website proclaims “for those of us who have a place where we feel our best self is hidden, waiting for us to come and find it. for me, that place is Ireland”.
So it made perfect sense to us that some of these romantic, idyllic visions of Ireland may have stemmed from a love of Dolores O’Riordan and The Cranberries when we heard her version of Dreams from her upcoming EP of the same name.
‘When I was a kid, we would drive around my home town listening to records, it was with my aunt that I first heard Dreams. There’s a holiness in the way a song is originally experienced that feels sacrilegious to tread upon – but when Dolores passed, I felt like I needed a moment of meditation.’
