Legendary Irish music journalist Stuart Bailie has announced that his latest book ‘The Song Is Almost Over’ is set for release via Dig For It on November 6th. His latest effort is a collection of stories and original articles covering 40 years of insights and shenanigans.

From the rise of Radiohead to messy times with Oasis, Primal Scream and U2. Bailie documents a passing era of access and friction, critique and acclaim. ‘The Song is Nearly Over’ is a requiem and an action replay.

Across his legendary career, the Belfast raconteur has contributed to NME, Mojo, Uncut, Q, Vox, The Irish Times, Hot Press and Classic Rock and written books and biographies on Terri Hooley, Van Morrisson, Phil Lynott, and the history of Northern Irish music during the Troubles.

Stuart Bailie is also a co-founder the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast – an institution which is the envy of every music hub on the Island of Ireland. Bailie edits Dig With It, a forum for music, arts and counterculture in the north.

‘The Song Is Almost Over’  will launched at a special event in The Deer’s Head, Belfast, 6 November 2025 with Bailie in conversation with Tim Wheeler from Ash followed by a live performance by Terri Hooley and a DJ set from Terri and Bailie as Part of the Sound of Belfast Festival
