Newcastle’s Lanterns on the Lake have shared Every Atom from their upcoming fourth studio album ‘Spook the Herd’ (out Feb 22nd, 2020) and announced a string of live dates including an appearance at Lost Lane next May.
“There was a sense of release in terms of what kind of music we felt we could make. The idea of what kind of band you’re supposed to be really disappeared. It was great; you felt you could do whatever you like,” says guitarist, Paul Gregory on how they approached the fourth album.
‘Spook the Herd’ sees the band leaving their native Newcastle upon Tyne to record for the first time in their career in an effort to shake up comfortable mindsets. Decamping to Distant City studios in Yorkshire.
“We are a pretty insular band in how we work, and trusting other people enough to allow them to get involved is not always easy for us,” explains singer, Hazel Wilde.
The old adage of a change being as good as a rest certainly rang true for Lanterns of The Lake as they barrelled through sessions, finishing the record in just three weeks.
Lanterns on the Lake at Lost Lane – Saturday 2nd May 2020. Tickets priced €15 go on sale this Friday 8th November at 9am through www.ticketmaster.ie & usual outlets nationwide.
