Kodaline guitarist Mark Prendergast has released his debut solo single under the moniker Man Alive. ‘Be Someone’ has far more in common with the likes of Benjamin Frances Leftwich and James Vincent McMorrow than his output with Kodaline.

“‘Be Someone’ is about a long-distance relationship falling apart, and how when you’re with somebody, they make you feel like a certain type of person, but then when you end the relationship and you’re by yourself, you always become a completely different person.” explains Mark of Be Someone.

Man Alive slowly came together during lockdown as Prendergast hit a reflective vein of songwriting far removed from his stadium shenanigans with Kodaline. Unsure what to do with this new body of work comedian Ashling Bea convinced Prendergast to pursue it under his own steam.

Man Alive was introduced to the world at a star-studded house party in Dublin last week with appearances from James Vincent McMorrow and Gavin James, while Josh McClorey, guitarist for The Strypes, CMAT and Declan McKenna appeared in Man Alive’s six-piece band.
