Let us preface the following with the advice that everyone should, of course, drink responsibly. Now, to more important matters…

King Kong Company have built a reputation as festival specialists and Buckfast has become an important part of their festival regime. Not only is Bucky a perfect pick-me-up for the high-octane performances delivered by the Waterford-based band, it also features heavily in one of their tracks. Donkey Jaw, released last September, is a cautionary tale of festival excess that mentions the drink more than once.

This week an interesting package arrived in the post at KKC HQ, a package perfectly-timed for festival season. It was a cache of Buckfast merch, a nod to the dubby-electro-rockers for flying the flag on behalf of their Buckfast brethren. In the spirit of brotherly love and generosity, King Kong Company are giving away this haul of swag to their followers through their social media channels. They’re sound like that.

The band play the iconic Sonic Stage at Glastonbury on Sunday June 25th, and on the way home there’s a visit to Buckfast Abbey scheduled. Who knows what that could lead to. You can catch King Kong Company in their natural habitat at Body&Soul in two weeks time, where they’re lined up for a savage late-night slot.
