K-Fest and It Takes A Village have been postponed until 2021. Organisers for both events announced the cancellations vis social media earlier today. This is another sad but inevitable blow to the Irish music scene as both of these festivals have supported local acts since their inception.

“As none of us know how long this pandemic will continue on for we felt it was prudent to make this call now. We were really looking forward to this year’s festival so we are hoping most of the acts both Irish and international will join us again in 2021. The feedback from all acts is very positive about joining us next year. They are in the same boat as us, caught in the doldrums in this sea of uncertainty. We are all in this together.” says It Takes A Village organiser, Ed O’Leary,

“We had hoped that the situation in Ireland and around the world would have improved by the beginning of May, but as we all know there is no clarity on this. In these uncertain times we feel that many acts might not want or be able to travel from the U.S, U.K or Europe. Irish acts also might have issues with social proximity. Our loyal villagers and new found friends that were due to join us on this third instalment of It Takes A Village might not feel comfortable socialising for many months to come.

Having made the decision to postpone we now look forward with positivity 2021. The new dates for It Takes A Village are: May 7th – 9th 2021, at Trabolgan Holiday Village, Cork.

Organisers of K-Fest which takes place every June have take a similar view announcing that they would be postponing their event until the June Bank Holiday 2021.

“Clearly this was not the course of action we hoped to take for this year’s event, and we held off as long as we could, hoping the situation would improve. However, following the new government measures announced earlier this week and our own belief that everyone’s health, safety, and well-being should be at the forefront of our festival, this is the appropriate decision.

The cancellation of K-FEST 20/20 will no doubt come as a blow to all our committee members, volunteers, artists and performers who have already worked so hard to make the event happen. The festival and our artists are hugely disappointed, and we are sorry that some audiences will miss out on seeing these fantastic works.

We hope to see you all back for K-FEST 2021, where we plan to come back stronger than ever, showcasing many of this year’s missed performances, plus lots of new artists and acts.”
