A Japanese Choir, the all-female Toyo Eiwa Jogakuin Choir will be coming to Dublin to mark the one year anniversary of the earthquakes and tsunami that devastated parts of Japan.

They will perform Handel’s Messiah in the St. Patricks Cathedral, Dublin on Sunday 11th March at 8pm. Admission to this unique event is free of charge and attendees will be invited to make donation to the relief efforts as they continue.

The choirwill be accompanied by acclaimed Japanese soprano Eri Nakamura and bass Yasunori Okumura.  Hideyuki Tsuji – apparently one of Japan’s most accomplished conductors, we won’t pretend to know, we are being told they are good. We do know David Leigh, Ben Barnes and Ciaran Kelly who will join them as organist, countertenor and tenor respectively.

This tour and performance are being organised by the Music and Cultural Exchange Council of Japan (MCEC International).
