It’s not exactly a name that screams superstar but in singer songwriter terms that’s exactly what Janis Ian is. Multiple Emmy nominations and a win for her song ‘Seventeen’.
Highly critical of the RIAA feeling they work against musicians and consumers she was one of the early adopters of giving free music via her website. One of American folk musics most respected names will be in Dublin in January to play us a headline show.
As far as we know there is no new album for us, her last release was in 2006 (well there was “The Essential Janis Ian in 2009) but fans of her won’t care as this is a rare chance to see her live in Ireland.
The show is in Vicar Street on January 29th 2012. Tickets for the show are priced at €36.50 inclusive of booking fee and available from Friday 25th November at 9am. Tickets available from Ticketmaster.ie and outlets nationwide.
Doors 7.30pm, Show 8.30pm.
