It’s been a morning full of top class gig announcements that we can hardly contain our excitement here at Goldenplec. While we spent the AM hatching a plan to get Fleetwood Mac tickets and figuring out if Beyonce will bring any of her Destinys Child colleagues on the road with her, we also had to decide who was the worthy winner of this week’s Gig of the Week.
That rapscallion Mr Jake Bugg has taken the title. The 18 year old Nottingham native who’s debut album went to number one at the end of last year is in The Academy on Sunday night. The gig is unsurprisingly sold out. Having seen him twice last year, those with tickets shouldn’t expect a huge production but just some good old fashioned rock & roll.
Following last night’s sell out in The Pepper Canister Church, Martha Wainwirght is back there tonight for another sell out show. Declan Sinnott is playing The Liffey Bank Sessions in the The Button Factory tomorrow night. Tickets are still available and are €16.50. Singer-songwriter, record producer and actor Trey Songz is in The Olympia Theatre on Thursday night. Undoubtedly the crowd will consist of harems of excitable ladies. Tickets still available and are €35.
Choice Prize Song of the Year nominee Gavin James has gone and sold out Whelans on Friday night. It’s fantastic to see the lovely young man doing so well. If you haven’t seen the other nominees, take a peek here and get voting for your favorite. The hipster equivalent of The Pied Piper, Dan Deacon is in Whleans on Saturday night, tickets are €18.50 and still available. Meanwhile The Enemy are playing a late show over in The Academy. Tickets for that one are still available and only €7.30.
