On this week’s round-up of the best new Irish music we must start of by congratulating Denise Chaila on winning the Choice Music Prize 2020 for her debut release ‘Go Bravely’. RTE Player aside, the coverage was great and hopefully we’ll see much more of Tracy Clifford on the TV going forward.

This week’s playlist features the return of the king aka Kojaque with the powerful track No Hands, dedicated to his late father. Proceeds from No Hands are being donated to Pieta House – you can donate here.

Biig Piig teams up with Californian R&B group Emotional Oranges for the laid-back bop Body & Soul. The victorious Narolane family celebrate Denise’s win with the release the excellent track Water.

Uppbeat continues to impress with new single Jellyfish and Why-Axis shares Shoulders, the follow-up to his 2021 release Raincoat. RikShaw continues to blur the lines between hip hop and pop with Grudge while new Irish act Babylamb drop some fizz with Mister Magic.

Notable remixes come via Finn’s take on For Those I Love’s new single Birthday/The Pain and bassist extraordinaire Peter Voeglaar’s collab with Katie Kim gets a fresh trim from Bren McGillicuddy.

Somebody’s Child return with Brother the last track from the EP ‘Hope, Amongst Other Things’, While Thom Southern, brother of Lucy Gaffney hooks up with the legendary Sonic Boom from Spaceman 3 for Soul Singer. Ailbhe Reddy collaborates with Sacred Animals on City Unfolds, her first release proper since her Choice Music Prize nominated album ‘Personal History’.

If singer-songwriters are your thing then you’re in luck as there is a plentiful supply of new tracks from the likes of Aidan Duffy, Siobhan Franks, Laura Elizabeth Hughes, Meghan Ali, Greg Clifford, Derek Ellard and a wonderful return from Conchúr White with Vacation Vacation, while Tolü Makay will be hoping to build upon the success of N17 with the ballad Used To Be.

All this, plus tracks from Emét, Ali Comerford, Rachel Greene, Autumns, Luke Power, Tanoki, Arcwords, Adgy, Laoise, Wyvern Lingo, Sprints and Bedrooms.
